A process is underway in Mount Argus parish to develop a new collaborative model for our Parish.
It may be that this process has been thrust upon us by the shortage of vocations and the crisis in the church caused by scandals and the inadequate response of Church leadership. But crisis points can also be growth points and there may yet be a grace in this crisis if God can use it to call the Church to renewal, to do away with the wall that has been built between laity and clergy, to remind and encourage the laity that they are called by God in Baptism to build up God’s kingdom and to remind the clergy that they are called to service, not power.
Here is the vision we want to pursue, a Parish which models a Church in which all are responsible as active participants in the mission of Christ through utilisation of our great variety of gifts and talents, and in which all are responsible for building up the body of Christ through mutual respect and dialogue. We have made a small beginning. There is no easy road ahead. But we are committed to continuing the journey and to enabling the whole Parish to be a part of it. Let us look forward together with faith and with trust in our God. |
