Fr. Kenneth Brady joined the Parish team, and also the Pastoral Leadership Team.
As required by the Archdiocese, a Constitution was drawn up and agreed by all the members of the team.
The vision was communicated to the parish on the website and will be distributed to all homes in the parish in the Spring edition of CommunityLink.
The team took the opportunity offered by the necessity of rationalising the mass times to put the idea of a collaborative parish into action. All parishioners were invited to attend meetings after each mass on the 7th November. The discussions at those meetings led to a set of proposed mass times which were put to parishioners the following week in a survey and voted on. The feedback received on this exercise has been very positive. The revised Mass times schedule is not simply about cutting back, but is the first stage towards improving the quality of the masses available to people.
January was the month when the PLT got down to the serious job of planning their work over the next 3-4 years. In this plan the focus is on renewal in the following areas:- Liturgy, Voluntary Groups, Education/Formation, Communications, the Church environment and building relationships between parish groups. Plans were made to commence work and a number of people have agreed to work with the team in some of these areas.
Social gatherings were held to express gratitude to 1) all the volunteers in the parish and 2) those who had served on the Core Group in its last years as well as those who served on the sub-groups set up to begin the process of parish renewal.
